When planning to move, there are a multitude of things to consider when deciding the next place to call home. Whether it’s a career move, retirement, or just relocating for the sake or moving; here are a few things to consider.
1. Housing Prices- Whether you plan to buy, or rent, the price of your home or apartment will have a huge impact. Consider spending $1,200 in Austin vs. spending $1,200 in Manhattan, there is a vast difference. Whereas in Austin, you will have an abundance of wonderful housing options, but in Manhattan you won’t even find a closet to live in.
2. Taxes- Unfortunately taxes are one of those things that we just can’t get away from, but can drastically impact our quality of life. Here in Texas, we are one of the nine states that have no state income tax, which can help keep a few bucks in your pocket.
3. Expenses- When moving there is a multitude of things that one must take into consideration. Changing climates will effect. Moving from New York to Florida might mean a change in wardrobe, types of insurances purchased, heating and cooling, car and home maintenance, and so much more.
4. Demographics- Before making a move, make sure you check out the demographics of the area you’re moving to. Moving to Detroit, you have to consider the lack of job opportunities, crime, and a so many more unattractive things in one of the nation’s largest cities. By comparison, here in the greater Austin area, we have low crime rates, award winning school districts, a thriving local economy, and many other attribute that make it an ever growing city.
5. Money- You will want to look up average income per household. Gauge the place you’re considering moving to by the potential earning in the area. Of course you want to make sure employment opportunities exist, but you also must make sure the wage in which you will earn is sufficient in the area in which you’re relocating to.
Although there are so many things to consider when moving, here are just a few of them. Maintaining a quality of life suitable to you is essential. Enjoy your move!!!!
